If you have muslim students in your classroom you probably know that there are two big celebrations in islam and both are refered to as Eid. The first is Eid al-Fitr, which is celebrated at the end of Ramadan. The second celebration, Eid al-Adha, follows the annual Hajj pilgrimage and is an honoring of the act of Qurbani (a sacrifice made for God). During this time parents will tell their children the story of Abraham and Ishmael, as a way to engage and teach children about Abraham’s devotion for God. This year, the Eid al-Adha celebrations begin on July 9, 2022.
Below are some suggestions for Eid al Adha activities for kids in your classroom.
Eid-Al-Adha Activity 1. Show and Tell
Students celebrate Eid al Adha at home with family and friends. Ask students to share how they celebrate this special day. Student might have parents or grandparents that went to the annual Hajj pilgrimage or maybe they want the show the gift they received or maybe they just want to show pictures.

This book is about Yusuf that tells Emma how he celebrates this special day with his family. Emma is curious and asks lots of questions. By the end of the day, Emma finally understands the significance of Eid al-Adha and manages to perform her very own little act of sacrifice.
Titel: Peg + Cat: The Eid al-Adha Adventure
This story is about t’s Yasmina and Amir, who invite their friends Peg and Cat to show how they celebrate Eid AL ADHA. But with all three bowls of meatballs holding different amounts, they’ve got a BIG PROBLEM!
