What is Ramadan:
Ramadan is the holiest month of the year in Islamic Religion. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim calendar and the holy month of fasting (refraining from eating and drinking during daylight hours.) It is also a time for introspection, prayer, reading of the Quran, refraining from bad habits, visiting the Mosque, and doing acts of charity.
When is Ramadan:
The Islamic calendar follows the lunar moon cycle; therefore, the dates for Ramadan change every year, as it is dependent on the appearance of the crescent moon. It lasts for 30 days. It is followed by Eid (Eid-al-Fitr), a celebration that marks the end of the month-long fast. After Eid-al-Fitr Approximately 30 to 70 days (depending on the moon) muslims will welcome their second celebration which is Eid al Adha. Click here to read about Eid al Adha here.
